现在分词短语和过去分词在句子中通常充当定语或状语;

定语:前置到名词前或独立成句;

例子:

Young men energized to prove their manhood need the special care.

前置:

Young men( energized to prove their manhood) need the special care.

1)现在分词的主语就是前面这个名词;

2)过去分词短语的主语就是前面这个名字;

1.Young men energized to prove their manhood need the special care.

2.(Young men)are energized to prove their manhood

1)现在分词的主语就是句子主语或者是整个句子;

2)过去分词短语的主语就是句子主语;

Fronted by plus-sized models and social media influencers, the fat acceptance movement aims to normalize obesity, letting everyone know that it’s fine to be fat.(这句话实际是三句话构成的)

1)Fronted by plus-sized models and social media influencers,

= the fat acceptance movement is fronted by plus-sized models and social media influencers

2)the fat acceptance movement aims to normalize obesity,

3) letting everyone know that it’s fine to be fat.

= the fat acceptance movement lets everyone know that it’s fine to be fat.

我们处理句子总的原则就是尽量的把句子切分并独立为一个个短小的简单句;

这就是从初高中思维转为考研思维的重要一步;

面对:从句,同位语,现在分词短语,过去分词短语,独立主格结构,动态名词;

With terms such as “straight size” and “fat pride” proliferating, some influential figures are now even likening the valid concerns of health officials to hate crimes.

1)With terms such as “straight size” and “fat pride” proliferating

= terms such as “straight size” and “fat pride” proliferate

2)some influential figures are now even likening the valid concerns of health officials to hate crimes

Yet New York’s good fortune has brought with it two formidable challenges: the challenge of displacement, the product of a rental housing market that has long been starved of inventory, and of meeting the transit needs of a growing city.

1. fortune :

Good fortune: 好运 = good luck

牛津例句:Fortune smiles on me.

By a stroke of fortune he found work almost immediately.

This change brings with it the greater reward than financial success.

4.displacement: 取代,替换,移位,免职;

the largest displacement of civilian population since World War Two

今天句子中的displacement的意思是被迫迁徙,失去住所,简称:失所;

you also owe a debt to Steve Jobs

We owe a debt to Edison, because he invented the light bulb.

the city’s public transit system:

transit needs :

6.inventory: 库存,清单;

7. be starve of sth :

Yet New York’s good fortune has brought two formidable challenges:

the challenge of displacement

(同位语:the product of a rental housing market that has long been starved of inventory)

(the challenge )of meeting the transit needs of a growing city

That same year, a Journal of Educational Psychology paper found no relationship between the study subjects’ learning-style preference (visual or auditory) and their performance on reading- or listening-comprehension tests. Instead, the visual learners performed best on all kinds of tests. Therefore, the authors concluded, teachers should stop trying to gear some lessons toward “auditory learners.” “Educators may actually be doing a disservice to auditory learners by continually accommodating their auditory learning style,” they wrote, “rather than focusing on strengthening their visual word skills.”

which way is a better way to learn according to the text?

(visual or auditory)
